Markup and Selling Rates
Up to now, all estimates and rates that have been discussed have been so-called net allowables and net rates. These allowables and rates represent the expected cost to the company. However, projects are very rarely sold at cost, and some form of markup is always included in the final price to ensure profits. In Trimble Quest, markup is specified at the bill item level. A so-called Selling Rate can be assigned to each bill item in the BOQ to produce a total Selling Amount for a project. Several options are available for applying markup.
